Electrical Engineering Services

Inspection and Testing to BS7671

In view of the recent changes in legislation, embracing the increased needs for the certification and testing of Electrical Installations, we now offer a comprehensive inspection, testing and certification service.

This service is particularly relevant to the requirements regarding periodic inspection and testing.

No electrical installation, no matter how carefully designed and erected, can be expected to last forever. Periodic inspection and testing is necessary due to a number of factors including wear, damage, corrosion, ageing and environmental influences. All of these factors will cause the installation to deteriorate. Periodic inspections aim to highlight these deteriorations before they affect the safety of the installation.

Consequently periodic inspection and testing should be considered for the following reasons:
  • To ensure the safety of the installation.
  • To fulfil the duty of care of the site owner to all persons.
  • To assess compliance with BS7671.
  • To assess compliance with the Electricity Supply Regulations 1988.
  • To assess compliance with the Electricity at Work Act 1989.
  • Change of ownership of the premises.
  • Change of use of the premises.
  • Change of tenancy of rented premises.
  • Completion of alterations, or additions, to the original installation.
  • Following a significant increase of the electrical loading of the installation.
  • Where it is believed that damage may have been caused to the installation.
  • When it is a requirement by insurance companies, public bodies, licensing authorities, mortgagors or landlords.
  • Structural changes may have impaired the safety of the installation.
  • Signs of overheating and overloading.
Customers are provided with a periodic inspection report which comprises of a schedule of items inspected and tested along with results obtained. The report contains observations and recommendations for action to be taken to ensure the installation remains safe.

We are approved by the NICEIC for inspection and testing of installations to the IEE Wiring Regulations, BS7671.
